Hiring: Substation Operators | Kahramaa Qatar – Long Term Project
Absolute Technical Systems LLP is inviting applications for experienced Substation Operators for a long-term project with Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa).
Qualification & Experience
• Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent / Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical
• Experience:
– Diploma holders: Minimum 5 years in operation & maintenance of substations
– Bachelor’s Degree holders: Minimum 2 years in similar field
• Hands-on experience with power transformers, GIS / Minimum Oil switchgear and associated equipment across voltage levels 220kV, 132kV, 66kV, 33kV & 11kV
• Knowledge in protection systems, HV/EHV cables, EHV overhead lines and transformer on-load tap changers is essential
Major Duties & Responsibilities
• Inspection and monitoring of switchyards, control rooms, relay panels, telemetry systems, battery chargers, CO₂ systems and transformers
• Identify abnormalities and report to Kahramaa System Control
• Log faults, tripping events, weather conditions and operational readings such as voltage, current, MW, GIS pressure, cable oil pressure and tap positions
• Execute switching operations under the direction of System Control Engineers
• Support Shift Control Engineer in switching programs and emergency operations
• Maintain system voltage and frequency within prescribed limits
• Assist in economic load dispatch and daily operational reporting
• Maintain records, manuals and software updates for control room systems
• Coordinate with QA for ISO 9002 compliance and ensure adherence to Kahramaa HSE regulations
• Perform additional duties assigned by supervisors and control engineers
